Botany and Art!

This morning, Jack brought in a branch from our honey locust tree. I
photocopied it first so that the boys' fingers could trace and practice the
shapes. Then we used colored pencils and drew them into our art pads. We
learned how the veins bring the water and nutrients from the soil. A
wonderful activity for a stormy day.

Garden Tags

This is the first batch of garden tags that the kids and I painted! Being

good.

DIY coasters

I love these wooden bead coasters from papernstitch.  I think I found a new blog to love.

art for today

Our move to snowy Idaho has been quite the adventure.  Got almost a foot of snow last night, so my husband is off skiing- and so very happy.  Today we did an art project in the form of decorating gingerbread cookies.  These kinds of projects always make me feel exhausted when they are done.  Something about trying to help both kids simultaneously wears me out!  But they loved it and I’m glad we did it.  (by the way, to make it easier, I got a gingerbread cookie mix and used that as an easy start rather than making from scratch – made the mix last night and had it in the fridge ready to go this morning.)   The cookie with the long, long legs is Josh’s version of me.  J  I’m flattered.

Happy December!

new art: Brothers!

This piece was exciting to make because I have known these boys since they were born and they are both dear friends of my boys. It took awhile to take shape, needed some sprucing up… my sister suggested adding the verse and it was the perfect touch to bring everything together. Thanks, Reena! J
