Liquid water colors!

Liquid watercolors (from Discount School Supply) are versatile. This week, we colored the snow and the bath bubbles with small squirt bottles. Then we used dauber bottles (discount school supply again) to decorate shapes on the light table. It all washed off, except maybe a small spot of red on the white tile grout. :) A little elbow grease and that came off too.

We have all enjoyed the daily infusion of color and light on these cold winter days.

A Craft for the Season

Homemade wrapping paper is so much fun to make!!! Plain brown Kraft paper, a few Christmas-y stamps and you've got cute (and inexpensive) wrapping paper.

On some pages, the kids added their original artwork. A fun craft!

My friend, Stacie, is extremely creative as she teaches her young son. This Jesse Tree craft is calling my name!

Large Format Art

Newport, Oregon has a row of buildings covered with sea-themed murals. It made the tiny seaport a place of beauty and interest.

Guest idea

My artsy mother had this great idea to create a gardening basket for the guest room. Love it! I hope that it will give guests inventive to get outside and enjoy the garden.

Art display

My BFF :) makes her home beautiful and functional. This art display line is low enough that her 5-year-old can change the art himself. By painting the clothespins a variety of bright colors, she added even more interest.

(sorry about the messy bed, my guys slept on her floor last night)

Adorable!

Graffiti

What a special time. This weekend some friends of my mom's were visiting and they had the great idea to write scriptures on the beams and subfloors of her new apartment above our garage. Meaningful art. The kids contributed amazingly with drawings and their own ideas too.

A Lovely View

Had a great weekend away. To think this is less than 2 hours from our door! My husband gave me a gift of 24 hours alone in a hotel to just be, to plan for our upcoming school year and to rest.

Try to get some time to yourself, out of the house, even if just for a few hours in a quiet hotel lobby or a library. It will help you hear God more clearly and love your family better. Just do it! Plan today to take some time in the next week. Ask your husband for help and support in this. We need rest and rejuvenation if we are going to successfully accomplish this job of raising hearts for eternity!

Look what I found!

In case you can't tell what my little artist crafted above, it's supposed to be me! Little Man raided Daddy's arcade quarter stash for supplies.

Botany and Art!

This morning, Jack brought in a branch from our honey locust tree. I
photocopied it first so that the boys' fingers could trace and practice the
shapes. Then we used colored pencils and drew them into our art pads. We
learned how the veins bring the water and nutrients from the soil. A
wonderful activity for a stormy day.
